Rising from the water just a few hundred meters from the coast, on a small rocky islet opposite the port of Trapani, the Colombaia Castle—also known as the Torre Peliade—is one of the city’s most evocative symbols: a millennia-old fortress that has spanned history, from its Punic foundations to Spanish modifications, and even its use as a prison.
The structure is imposing and austere, with the stern beauty typical of Sicilian military architecture.
